In 2020 I was hired to photograph Irit Sorokin’s jewelry collection. Irit’s jewelry is designed with materials collected from her travels around the world, meaning each piece is truly unique and made only once. Knowing this, I felt the collection called for a space that highlighted a sense of place, history, and our connection to the rawness of the natural world. Janaki Larsen’s Vancouver ceramic studio provided just that; rough around the edges, test ceramics stacked shelves, and markings of past work on the walls and floor. The studio provided a space full of story to gently capture Irit’s unique designs.
